Park Play Date and new look
We had a great day today. I met up with some local moms at a park near us and the kids had a great time playing with each other and the moms had a great time chatting adoption and family talk. I met three new moms and got to chat with four moms I already knew. If you are in the Pikes Peak region of Colorado please consider joining the Pikes Peak Africa Adopt Connection group on Google. You will get all the invites for our playdates and adoption support group meetings. The more the better! Click on the link in the side bar for the Google Group.
Do you like the new look? I was tired of the dark background and felt it was not as readable and seemed cluttered to me. I hope this will work better and still be cute. Let me know what you think.
While you are at it, let me know if you find this blog to be helpful and if it WORKS. You know, can you can find stuff you are looking for using the "key word" pages at the top or the side bar labels, etc. Are the links, resources and posts helpful?

IAN hosts Colorado Ethiopian Heritage Camp
International Adoption Net wants to celebrate our children's heritage by having our first annual summer camp for families of Ethiopia adoption. This week long camp will focus on cultural adjustment and support for youth ages 3-18 as well as parents and siblings. Activities will include but are not limited to; Ethiopian dance, cooking, art, adjustment groups for youth and parents, as well as support groups for teens. We will also have some wonderful guest speakers!
This is a great opportunity for families and youth to hear about others adoption journeys, challenges and rewards. The camp is open to all families. More details will be available soon!

Colorado Springs get together
Host: | Peter Hilts |
Location: | |
When: | Sunday, August 23, 4:00PM Add to my Outlook Calendar |
Phone: | 719-491-1255 |
In 1998, my wife Tracy and I adopted Worku, Lubaba, and Saada from Ethiopia. Adoption/parenting is a huge blessing for us, and one we love to share and may pursue again. What would all of you think about forming a local partnership for those of us who have an interest in adopting from Ethiopia? We are excited to invite you to the first gathering of friends who support adoption from Ethiopia. If you have adopted Ethiopian children, are hoping to adopt from Ethiopia, or have a heart for the children of Ethiopia, we would love to meet you and share stories. This is a casual picnic with no menu or agenda, other than to meet, let our children meet, and see if we should gather again. We'll fire up a grill at about 5:00 so bring grilling foods if you like. Otherwise, just bring along a picnic dinner to share and some toys and field games to play. We hope to see you there! Peter and Tracy Hilts |
