Attachment and Bonding

Attachment and Bonding are two different things, but they come together to form a healthy child/parent relationship. Attachment is the feeling of love between the parent and child.  Love. Bonding is the healthy dependence in the relationship, the child expecting his needs to be met by the parent and knowing they will be met.  Peace.  Most of the time Attachment is used for both attachment and bonding.  Attachment can come quickly (not always) and bonding takes time (no matter the age of the child).  But, it can be done.  Sometimes it is hard and sometimes easy.  There are things you can learn to help facilitate these important steps.  This page gives links to posts that deal with this process.
